Irene Barton, 79, died peacefully at home, surrounded by love, from kidney failure on Tuesday, August 7, 2012. She was born in a big country farm house on June 22, 1933 in Isle, MN to Morris and Doris Sheeley. Irene graduated from Isle High in 1951. She graduated Business School in the Twin Cities and then worked as a teletype operator in Chicago where she met her husband, Robert L. Barton, Sr. of Biloxi, MS. They were married in Isle, MN at the Isle Baptist Church on August 24, 1952. They had four children, Lee, married to Janet Gomes, Kristine, married to Bob Wilkie now married to Lois Ainsworth, Devan, married to Creig Griffin and Casey. Irene held many jobs including waitressing, cleaning-lady, school bus driver, restaurant cook and managing school cafeterias.
Irene is preceded in death by her brother, Gerald, 3, brother, David; her parents, Morris and Doris Sheeley; husband, Robert L. Barton,Sr. and daughter, Kristine Barton Wilkie.
She is also survived by her sister, Marlene Sheeley Lilyerd of Mora, MN.
Irene, being a born again Christian, believed in Jesus and devoted her life to Christ. She taught Sunday school for 20 years and studied her bible daily.
A memorial service is planned for September 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Big Ridge Baptist Church in Biloxi, MS. Additionally a memorial service will also take place in Isle, MN on October 13, 2012.
