James "Jim" H. Neirynck

James H. “Jim” Neirynck, age 85, of Ocean Springs passed away on June 2, 2014 in Biloxi. Mr. Neirynck was born December 19, 1928 in Bloomington, IL to Victor John and Eva Lucille Neirynck. Jim graduated from Quincy College in Quincy, IL then served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a longtime general contractor who built numerous homes and businesses on the Gulf Coast. Jim was a member of the Biloxi Yacht Club for more than 35 years where he was an avid sailor and served as Commodore for 2 years. He and his wife Sharon enjoyed being members of several Mardi Gras organizations such as Revelers (King 1980) and Krewe of Neptune (King 1995). Jim was also a member of the Mississippi Home Builders Association, Ocean Springs Rotary and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marjorie Kenney and his wife, Sharon Kane Neirynck. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Travis (Robert) and Margi Davis both of Ocean Springs; his three grandchildren, Amanda Miller (Adam), Michael Archbold and Bradley Davis. He is also survived by his sister, Rosemary Kelley and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of SAADS Healthcare, especially Gloria, Sara and Kelly for their kindness and expert caregiving. Thanks also to the staff of the VA Hospice unit for taking care of him and making him comfortable in his last days. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets. FJCASP, 3401 Hammil Farm Rd., Ocean Springs, MS 39564. Visitation will be on Friday, June 13, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. A private burial will be held at a later date.
