James Edward Luczak

James Edward Luczak, age 65, of New Orleans, LA, passed away on Thursday March 7th, 2013 at his home in New Orleans, LA. James was born on July 7th, 1947 in Baltimore City Maryland, and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans La. He attended and graduated from Jesuit Catholic High School in New Orleans. He loved his home town of New Orleans, and writing was James’ passion. A play writer, short story writer, of such plays including “Some Rain” which appeared at The Lion Theater, West 42nd Street New York City, ”Café Toulouse” which appeared at The Raft Theater, West 42nd Street New York City, also a short story “Rats”, just to name a few. When he was not writing, he worked for many years at the famous Café Du Monde, where he was known as “Jimmy Jam the Beignet Man”. Mr. Luczak is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Edward Luczak and Mrs. Helen Luczak, and his sister Sharon Luczak Nice. He is survived by his God Child, Georgia (Bill) Bryant, God Mother, Patricia A. Jacquet, his lifelong friend, John (Elizabeth) Larroquette, and nephew Christopher Nice. Cousins, Sis Martino, Susan Martino, Caroline Martino, Johanna Trepagnier, Albert (Marie)Jacquet, Jr., John L. Ouille, Sr., Susan Holden, John (Dotti) Ouille, Jr., Kathy Thompson, Albert (Michelle) Jacquet, III, Diane Morales, Lisa (Gary) Hubble, Emmy (Shorty) Christian, and many cousins and friends. Mr. Luczak’s wishes were for no memorial or funeral services, only a private service for the disposition of his human remains. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
