James Vincent Shamburger was born April 20, 1950 in Jackson, MS and passed away at home in Ocean Springs, MS on June 21, 2013.
Mr. Shamburger graduated from Provine High School in Jackson, MS in 1968 and then went on to graduate from The University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Geography in 1972 where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. Mr. Shamburger was employed with the Social Security Administration from May 1973 until he retired in June 2012 as an Area Site Coordinator. Throughout his career, he became good friends with many of his coworkers all over the state and country.
Mr. Shamburger was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Antoinette “Toni” Shamburger, aunts Jessye Denman and Merle Sandifer, mother in law and father in law Henrietta and LC Noblitt, niece Nicole Shamburger, and sister in law Joyce Noblitt Summerlin.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna Noblitt Shamburger, daughters Traci Shamburger and Renee Shamburger Allen (Sam), brothers John (Betty) Shamburger and Leigh (Cheryl) Shamburger, sister in law Janice Noblitt Simpson (Larry), brother in laws Mike Noblitt (Margaret), Henry Noblitt (Carol) and Jerry Summerlin, numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. Mr. Shamburger was a loving husband, father and friend who loved Horn Island and the Gulf of Mexico, fishing, being with friends, and having fun.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital Brain Tumor Program. Our family would also like to give special thanks to Camellia Hospice, especially Ray Ray for their dedication to Mr. Shamburger in his last days.
A memorial service will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe in Ocean Springs on June 26, 2013 with visitation from 3-4 pm and a service at 4 pm.
