Janice “Jean” Olivia Adams, age 83, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Lakeview Nursing Center in Gulfport, MS. She was born May 8, 1934 in Elba, LA to the late Oneal and Minnie Kimble Myers.
Janice was best known for her exuberant personality. She had a mischievous sense of humor, wit and charm and she never met a stranger. Janice firmly believed in cooking and entertaining for the family, whether for Christmas or simply for someone coming to visit from out of town. Known among family and friends for her cake decorating skills, her children & grandchildren especially looked forward to their custom birthday cakes. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great grandmother & friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Murray Adams Jr, her daughter, Janet Lee, and 5 siblings, Johnny Myers, Vertis Myers, Mack Myers, Lena Brown and Florence Debataz.
She is survived by her 4 children, Earl Mills of MO, Wanda Noble and Joan Fowler (Ralph) of Gulfport, MS, Wesley Mills (Natalie) of Blanks, LA, 4 siblings, Larry Myers (Mary Lou) of Dennison TX, Dean Myers (Merrie) of Gonzalas, LA, Dottie Faye Howard of Ventress, LA, Roger Myers (Lillie) of Livonia, LA and a host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Lakeview Nursing Center for their continued love and care. Each staff member Janice met became instant family, especially Terry McCray. Mr. McCray went out of his way to make her stay with Lakeview Nursing Center enjoyable and entertaining.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 8:45 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15452 O'Neal Rd, Gulfport, MS with a memorial service to immediately follow. Mrs. Adams will be buried at Biloxi National Cemetery.
