Jean Carole Schlather Scales

Jean Carole Schlather Scales, of Ocean Springs Mississippi, passed away on Sunday January 19th, 2014. She was born on June 16, 1934 to Harry and Catherine Schlather (Clements) in San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her son Steven Harris Scales; parents Harry and Catherine Schlather (Clements); step-father Lorn Clements; baby brother Harry William Schlather; granddaughter Bawney Mcquistin, and her loving partner William (Bill) Vaughn of Ocean Springs. She will be remembered for her bright green eyes, her loving beautiful smile and her great love of dogs. She was a very talented artist, and she passed on this talent to her children Trey and Cathy Surtees. She had a stylish fashion sense, and loved the smell of gardenias and daffodils. Your family is at peace knowing you are walking over the rainbow bridge with your son, your baby brother, your parents, your partner Bill, and your loving dogs. Mama, all of the little things we should have said and done, we just never took the time, but you were always on our minds, you were always on our minds. So now you will be in Heaven singing, “Say, Say my playmate, come out and play with me and bring your dolly three, climb up my apple tree, Slide down my rain barrel into my cellar door, and we’ll be jolly friends forever more.” We know we will see you again and that you will always be watching over us. You will now, as you have always been, on our minds. We love you and will miss you. Survivors include her daughters, Sabra Lynn (Roger) Roberts of Panama City, Florida, Suzanne Wilder- (Tommy) Richardson of Magee, Mississippi, Catherine Ann Surtees of Hawaii, and her son Calvin Trey (Kimberly Ann) Surtees, both of Hawaii; a brother Charles (Vicki) Clements of Bryan, Texas; granddaughters, Traysa Roberts, Regan Wilder, Bree Danielle Mcquistin, Tamara Elizabeth Surtees; grandsons Reid Wilder and Zeke Roberts; great granddaughter Olivia Wilder; nephew Jason Clements, and niece, Shelby Clements; also, her beloved boston terrier, Buddy Scales. The family will hold a memorial service in Magee, MS. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements. View and sign register book at www.bradfordokeefe.com
