Jerry Jess Sims

Mr. Jerry Jess Sims, age 76, of the Latimer Community, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Sims was a lifelong resident of the coast. He was a member of the Ocean Springs Masonic Lodge McLeod #424, the Biloxi Magnolia Lodge # 120, the Magnolia State Masons of Ocean Springs and a charter member of the Joppa Shrine Temple. He was also a member of the Bethel Hill Baptist Church in Latimer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Jess Sims and his first wife, Emma Jane McQueen. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Jean Sims of Latimer, daughter, Gina (Terry) Lamey of Woolmarket, three sons, Chris Sims and girlfriend, Mary Hughes, David (Sandra) Sims, all of Latimer and Brian (Cindy) Sims of D'Iberville, seven grandchildren, Brittany, Clint, Kevin, Corey, Jamie, Kristen and Jason and his great-granddaughter, Kylie, who was the love of his life. Visitation will be on Friday, January 24, 2014, from 10 am until 12 noon, with a 12 noon church service, all at Bethel Hill Baptist Church in Latimer. A Masonic burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
