Jesse Weldon Dobbins

Jesse Weldon “Deuce” Dobbins II, 36, was called home to be with the Lord Friday, February 17, 2017. During the weeks prior, Jesse was surrounded by family, friends, and brother Marines; a testament to the love, friendship, and respect he not only displayed but also inspired in others. Beloved gift, father, son, brother, and friend—he will be sorely missed. Jesse was a hero in the true sense of the word. He joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves where he excelled and was awarded a Navy Achievement Medal for risking his own life to save those of his fellow Marines. As a crew chief for 3rd Platoon A Company 4th Amphibious Assault Battalion, he served and was decorated in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. After his military service, he enjoyed working in the trucking and transport industry. He was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, having lived most of his life in Saucier. He was born in Biloxi on November 26, 1980. Jesse gave his life to Christ as a teenager at Campground Baptist Church in Gulfport and continued to witness to others throughout his life. He was a leader, an optimist, and naturally good at every sport he pursued. From hockey to baseball to ice racing, he gave it his all and had a good time doing it! His love for sports and children led him to coach his son’s teams. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bobby Joe and Patsy Jo Dobbins; his grandfather, Thomas Cooper McAdams, Sr.; his great-grandmother, Hazel Marie Williams; his aunt Sheryl McAdams Scott; and his uncle Trinity James Dobbins. His survivors include his children, Davin Deuce Dobbins, Daisha Delane Dobbins, and Deslynn Deliah Dobbins and their mother, Heather Lizana; his mother, Marie Helena McAdams Dobbins Ladner; his father, Robert Joseph Dobbins; his siblings, Lynetta (Sean) Dobbins Halat, Shanon Jerome Dobbins, Shauna (Brian) Ladner Shaw Ladnier, and Jeremiah Ladner; his stepfather, Cliff “Boy” Ladner; his grandmother, Helena McAdams Barrilleaux; his grandfather Gerald Barrilleaux; and a large extended family, including 6 nephews and 3 nieces who thought he was the coolest. A memorial service will be held at Campground Baptist Church on Hwy 53 in Gulfport on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 10 AM. Friends may visit afterwards on the church grounds. Jesse will be interred at Biloxi National Cemetery during a private service with honors by the United Sates Marine Corps. Honorary Pallbearers include Phillip McKnight, Jesse Secondine, Jason Teed, Cole Gibbens, Sean Halat, and Marty McAdams. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for his children at KFCU under Marie McAdams. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
