John "Cork" A. Durham

John A. “Cork” Durham, 77, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 in Biloxi. Mr. Durham was born on August 6, 1937 in Olive Branch IL, but grew up in a small farming community in Frisbee, MO until he enlisted in the USMC, where he had tours in Japan and South Korea. Upon his honorable discharge with the USMC, Mr. Durham returned to Illinois where he worked for the Chrysler Corporation for 27 years until his retirement in 1991. He moved to Ocean Springs, MS in 1991 and has called it home for 23 years. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Bradshaw King; his father, Edgar Durham; and his step-father, Delbert King. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 47 years, Charlotte K. Durham; his children, Stanley A. (Connie) Durham of Sparta, IL, Richard J. (Loretta) Durham of E. Carondalet, IL, Teresa A (Jim) Owens of Granite City, IL and Gary D. (Janet) Durham of Ocean Springs, MS and his adopted daughter, Rose Chartrand of E. Carondalet, IL; his brothers, James (Wava) Durham of Demopolis, AL and Doyle King of Rockford, IL; and his sister, Sandra King (James) Johnson of Paragould, AR. He has 21 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a funeral service on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 12:00 pm all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Vancleave.
