John L. Welter, Jr., age 80, of Biloxi, MS died Tuesday, September 25, 2012 in Biloxi.
John was born in Chicago, IL and was a longtime resident of the Gulf Coast. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, usher and a member of the Holy Name Society. John retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. He also retired from the Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base as an Air Traffic Control Instructor.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bertram Welter; his sons, James Welter, Joseph Welter and John L. Welter, III; his parents, John and Leona Welter; and his brother, Herb Welter.
Survivors include his daughters, Janet Welter of Wisconsin, Regina (Herb) Brown of Springfield, TN and Yvonne (Martin) Rushano of Hoover, AL; his sons, John L. (Linda) Welter, IV and Andrew (Leah) Welter, both of Biloxi, Steven (Tammy) Welter of Arlington, TX and Timothy (Bill) Welter of Savannah, GA; his sisters, Bernadette Coxey of Littleton, CO and Marylyn Welter of Elmwood Park, IL; and his grandchildren, Amanda, Monica, Kenny, Conor, Laura, Drew, Mallory, Leif and Jonah.
A Memorial Mass will be at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 12:00 noon where friends may visit one hour prior to mass time. Burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
