Jordan Bates

Jordan Bates, age 37, of Woolmarket died of a drug overdose on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Jordan had a long struggle with drug addiction that began several years ago after a car accident. Jordan was loved and cared for by his parents and professionals but could not overcome the evil drug culture. This could be you, your son, brother or husband. If you or someone you know is struggling with an addiction, there is help available. Don’t go back to those who kick you down. Don’t make your family bury you and feel they did not do enough. Jordan was a handsome, intelligent, caring person with a beautiful smile who learned to live simply and enjoy what he had. He enjoyed fishing and was an excellent cook. Most recently he was enrolled in the culinary school at Jeff Davis Jr. College. Jordan was born in Jackson, Mississippi. He lived there for several years and moved to Woolmarket in 1990. He was employed in Jackson for several years at Daniel Floor Covering and he worked on the coast at Astro Ford and Mvapes. Jordan also worked as a title abstractor with his dad at AAA Title Co. He and his father enjoyed many days of his youth with scouting activities, camping and flying in his dad’s planes, traveling in Mexico, Belize and Guatemala, fishing, shooting pool and working on cars. In his later years it was simply enjoying a quiet evening with a meal, fishing, working on a home project or going to New Orleans. Jordan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, R.L. “Bob” Strickland and Velma Strickland; his paternal grandparents, Richard and Jeannette Bates; his mother, Sandra Strickland D’Angelo, who loved him unconditionally; and two infant sisters. Jordan was never married and had no children. He is survived by his father Gary and his wife, Tina. Jordan will be cremated and his ashes scattered at the mouth of the Biloxi River, where he loved to fish. There will only be a private service. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
