Joseph Fred Craco, 95, of Gulfport, formerly of Hartford Connecticut, beloved spouse of 54 years to the late Alice Mary Craco entered into eternal rest Saturday March 2, 2013. Born December 13, 1917 in Hartford Connecticut he served and retired from the US Air Force and was a World War II veteran. In his tour of duty he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and American Theater Campaign Ribbon. Upon discharge from the military he lived in Amarillo, Texas for many years and worked as an accountant. He then moved to Gulfport where he retired from the Gulfport School District in 2007. He then worked cleaning his church, Edgewater Christian Fellowship until his passing.
Mr. Craco better known as “Tapa” enjoyed reading and was a great storyteller. His family and friends adored those special moments when he would reminisce some of his vast array of detailed and interesting memories.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and James Craco from Italy; brothers, Anthony Craco and Alexander Craco from Connecticut.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Wise (Ken) of Arizona and Yolanda Roberts of Gulfport; a brother, Patrick Craco and sister Yolanda Craco of Connecticut. He is blessed with four grandchildren, Brandon Wise (Tia) and Bethany D’Agostino (Edward) of Arizona, Price Roberts and Lauren Roberts of Gulfport; and four great-grandchildren, Laken and Gunnar Wise and Hailey and Chase D’Agostino of Arizona.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 2:00 pm at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 1726 15th St, Gulfport, MS with visitation for friends beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
