Joseph Holcombe Leckich

Joseph Holcombe Leckich, 76, of Biloxi died June 19, 2012 in Gulfport. Joseph was a lifetime member of Nativity BVM Cathedral, graduated from Notre Dame High School, and received his BS in Commerce from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army from 1957—1964. A hard working businessman, Mr. Leckich was co-owner and operated Leckich and Fayard Seafood Company from 1960 to 1989. His love for the seafood industry continued, as he ran Leckich Sales and Flagship Seafood in his retirement years. Mr. Leckich was an avid tennis player, a member of the Biloxi Yacht Club, Slavic Benevolent Association, Revelers Mardi Gras Organization, Gulf Coast Carnival Association, and was a duke in the Gulf Coast Carnival Association in 1980. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph P. Leckich and Thelma Leckich Price, and his loving daughter, Jody Leckich Pickich. Mr. Leckich is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Cordelia Girouard Leckich, four sons; Mark Leckich and wife, Diane, Port Neches, TX; Jason Leckich and wife, Eileen; David Leckich and wife, Ann- Marie; and John Leckich and wife, Louise; one brother; Wayne Leckich and wife, Harriet, and mother-in- law; Anite A. Girourard, all of Biloxi. “Paw Paw Joe” will be sadly missed by his eight grandchildren; Ashleigh Pickich Lamas, Cordelia Leckich Brown, Miranda Leckich White, Jeremy Pickich, Jarrod Leckich, Jacob Leckich, Ryan Leckich, and Victoria Leckich; as well as his three great-grandchildren; Bransyn White, Hunter Brown, and Parker Lamas. His gentle spirit will be missed by his many nephews, nieces, and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made towards the Jody Leckich Pickich Memorial Scholarship Fund at Nativity BVM Elementary School. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 21, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., both at Nativity B.V.M. A private Committal Service will follow. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
