Julian "Jay" Douglas Holtorf, age 75, passed away Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017. Jay was born November 13, 1941 in Carroll, Iowa to Julius Otto and Violet Pauline Wilkerson Holtorf. He was a graduate of Carroll High School in Carroll, Iowa. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration at Park College. He was also a member of the Mississippi Association of Addiction Professionals MCADC, CCCGC, ICADC. He received the United States Armed Forces Meritori Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal- two bronze oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award- three bronze oak leaf clusters and Small Arms Expert Ribbon. Jay was a USAF Retired, Master Sergeant, First Sergeant; he served from November 1959 until March 1987. He worked as a cost analyst at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., Avondale Shipyard in Lousiana, and Ingalls Shipyard in Mississippi. He was also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor at Harrison County Drug Court. He also worked as an Addictive Disease Coordinator Center for Behavioral Health at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. Jay enjoyed fishing and reading. He was also a Roman Catholic. Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Julius Otto and Violet Pauline Holtorf; and his siblings, Joan M. Kelly and twin sister, Jeanette B. Larson. Jay's survivors include his wife, Marie I. Dalrymple Holtorf; his children, Ronald "Ron" L. (Linda Ann) Holtorf and Stephen "Steve" D. (Rebecca S.) Holtorf; his grandchildren, Christina Dellinger, Ronald "Ronnie" Holtorf, II, Adrian Holtorf, Kelly Holtorf, and Haley Holtorf; his great-grandchildren, Tristen Holtorf-Kaltenbaugh, Ian Dellinger, and Cedric Holtorf Dixon; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Larson, of Birmingham, AL. Visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., with an 11:30 a.m. Rosary, and a 12:00 p.m. Mass. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. View and sign register book at www.bradfordokeefe.com
