Mr. Lamar D. Estis, Sr., age 67, of Gautier, MS, died Monday, September 23, 2013 at home surrounded by family and friends after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Estis was a longtime resident of the coast. He retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 30 years of dedicated service. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret. He was an active member of Eastside Assembly of God. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and uncle. He left behind many friends who will miss him dearly. The many memories he left us will remain in our hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Dupree Estis; step-father, Orville Reasoner; and sisters, Lanell Estis Cochran and Margaret Estis.
Survivors include his loving, devoted wife, Janet Estis; mother, Georgia Reasoner; sons, Lamar "Marty" (Alicia) Estis, Zane (Erica) Estis, Marcus Mason, Jr.; daughters, Paula (David) Miller and Christina (Andrew) Golden; brothers, Talmadge (Celia) Estis and Edward "Buddy" (Donna) Estis; sister, Georgia (Marshall) Stork; brother-in-law Ronald Cochran; and twelve grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, from 6pm until 8pm at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Thursday, September 26, 2013, there will be a 9:30 am chapel service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
