Lawrence Carl Slade

Lawrence Carl Slade, Jr, age 83, of Gulfport died Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Gulfport. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a shipyard worker for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a devoted father to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Carl Slade, Sr. and Lorene Slade; two brothers, James E. Slade and Edwin H. Slade. Mr. Slade is survived by wife, Ruth Meisner Slade of Gulfport; his sons, Lawrence C. Slade, III of Gulfport; Gregory S. Slade and his wife, Cindy of Woolmarket, Jeffrey W. Slade and George M. Slade, both of Gulfport; a grandson, Gregory S. Slade, Jr.: two granddaughters, Lawren R. Chucta and Stacie L. Slade; and a great-grandson, Dylan Slade. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial donations to the Bay-Waveland Humane Society, P.O. Box 2273, Bay St. Louis, Ms 39521. .
