Mrs. Lelia Theresa Sonnier, age 89, of Biloxi passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Mrs. Sonnier was born in Louisiana to Odile and Lenes Ransonet. They moved to the Gulf Coast when she was very young.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She always put her family before herself. She worked in the factories as a young women, and when the children came along she became a homemaker. She was a wonderful cook, and always enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Carrol Joseph Sonnier; parents, Lenes and Odile Guillotte Ransonet; brothers, Minos, Lester, Foster, Adam and Dallas Ransonet; sister, Dolores Ransonet Post; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Economides Sonnier.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Sonnier Graley (Clarence) and Jeanne Sonnier Wright (Samuel “Skipper”); sons, Russell (Connie), Mark (Patti) and Morris (Rae) Sonnier; sister, Gertrude Girouard; brother, Arthur Ronsonet; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her family and all who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. Vincent de Paul, c/o Sacred Heart Church, 10446 Lemoyne Blvd., D’Iberville, MS 39540.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit two hours prior. Interment will follow service at D’Iberville Memorial Park.
