Leonard Martin “Lenny” Knorr, 62, of Gulfport, Mississippi, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018. He was born November 1, 1955, in Centralia, PA, preceded in death by his parents, Rosemarie and Larry W. Knorr. He is survived by his sisters, Cheryl (Eric) Short, Covington, LA, Deborah Knorr ( Robert Dunleavy), Mandeville, LA, brother Lawrence (Karen) Knorr, Richmond, VA., and nephews Albert William “Will” Short, II, Andrew “Andy” Short, and Daniel Knorr, his close companion Kay Lockland, beloved Australian Shepard Cassie, and many friends. He has three surviving Aunts: Peggy Chapman of Aristes, PA., Eileen McFadden, Mt. Carmel, PA and Joan Chapman, Mt. Carmel, PA. He is also survived by many cousins in PA.

A graduate of Bloomsburg High School, Bloomsburg, PA he enlisted in the Army and was a Military Police officer stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, starting the vocation he would keep for the majority of his life. Following his military career, he briefly worked as a security officer at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania before becoming a decorated and accomplished police officer and detective with the Alexandria, VA Police Department. He then entered private security and investigations, before retiring and relocating to Covington, LA, and finally to Gulfport, MS.

Lenny was a gifted athlete, excelling in many sports including basketball, baseball, softball, and cross country running, which he continued to enjoy and participate in long after his high school years. One of his proudest accomplishments was completing the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C.

He loved the outdoors, especially the beach, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He particularly loved fishing for native trout at his favorite spot in the world; Sullivan Falls, in Jamison City, PA.
