Leroy Joseph Spak

Leroy Joseph Spak, 82, originally from Wisconsin, died Monday, Feb. 04, 2014 at Seashore Highlands Assisted Living in Gulfport, MS. He was born February 19, 1931 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Magdalena (Van Dale) Spak. Mr. Spak lived in Milwaukee, Columbus, Warren, Flagstaff and Phoenix before coming to Mississippi in 2010. He met his wife, Joan in 1957 in Milwaukee. They moved to Columbus, OH for two years, then back to Milwaukee for 12 years while he worked for AC Delco as an engineer. In 1974 they moved to Warren, Ohio where he worked for Packard Electric, a division of GM. In 1984 Lee was promoted to project manager for Tooh Dinah Industries (an integrated circuit board assembly plant in coordination with GM and the Navajo Indians) and moved most of the family with him to Flagstaff, AZ. Upon his retirement he and Joan moved to Sun City, AZ where they enjoyed golfing, bridge clubs, riding around in their golf cart and the company of numerous friends and family. They moved one more time to Warren, OH to be with their grandchildren until they moved to Biloxi, MS in 2010. He always said he grew funnier with age – so he was hilarious by the end. He loved his family, ice cream, the Green Bay Packers, singing and a brandy before dinner. Survivors include their daughter Kathy Spak Sutton of Niles, OH, Mary Spak (Michael) Sunderman of Gulfport, MS and David (Kelly) Spak of Saucier, MS. Grandchildren include: Nicole, Joseph, Patrick and Hope Sutton and Kelsey and Jesse Sunderman. A graveside service is planned for family members in the spring at St. Charles Cemetery, Fond du Lac, WI. The family would like to thank Sea Shore Highlands staff and management and Mrs. Kim Johnson for their care and devotion of our loved one. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Seashore Highlands Assisted Living, 12170 Highland Way, Gulfport, MS 39503 www.mss.org/seashore 228-831-7000 Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th St. Gulfport is in charge of arrangements. .
