Leroy Joseph Yennie, Sr., 82, of Biloxi, MS passed away at his home Tuesday, November 28, 2017.
Leroy was a native of New Orleans, LA where he worked for the City of New Orleans for 12 years before moving to Biloxi where he was a longtime resident. He was a shop owner and mechanic by trade for many years. Leroy retired from the U.S. Army 81st Airborne where he was a paratrooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor J. Yennie, Jr. and Marion Fazio Yennie; his father and mother-in-law, Walter J. and Valerie Cortes Boehm; and his grandson, Michael Alan Butler.
Leroy’s survivors include his wife of 59 years, Catherine Boehm Yennie; his children, Ricky Yennie, David (Sarah) Yennie, Leroy (Paula) Yennie, Jr., Gary (Theresa) Yennie, Michael (Kim) Yennie and Scott (Patricia) Yennie; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; his siblings, Victor J. “V.J.” (Catherine) Yennie, III, Gene F. (Margaret) Yennie and Beverly Yennie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Gloria, Monique, Sharon and Dale at Saad’s Hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the Humane Society of South MS, 2615 25th Ave., Gulfport, MS 39501.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home Friday, December 1, 2017 at 1:30 pm. Friends may visit from 12:30 pm until service time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
