Lila Ramsey, 77, of Saucier, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at home.
“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” Hebrews 13:2. This verse was one which guided Lila during her lifetime on this Earth, a lifetime which ended January 14th. Lila was born August 31, 1936 to Missie Jane and Mitchell Cabaniss, in Cleveland, MS.
Lila’s love of God and unabiding faith never wavered in times of great trials and tribulations. She often spoke of the peace she had in knowing God is ever present and she wouldn’t have to cross Jordan alone, taking to heart Psalm 27: 5, 6 “When troubles come…sing his praises with much joy.” Lila’s absence from this Earthly home will be felt by all who knew and loved her. Lila lived her belief that we should “let us stop just saying we love people; …let us really love them and show it by our actions.” I John 3:18; she was slow to anger, quick to forgive, she fed hungry strangers, comforted hurt souls, and lit up the world with her gentle spirit, her contagious laughter and her ever-present smile. She will be missed by family, friends, and co-workers at Keesler Air Force Base where she was employed 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Missie Jane Cabaniss; her father, Mitchell Cabaniss; two sons, Gene and Gary Ramsey; her husband, Kenneth Ramsey; and two brothers, Ray Cabaniss and Gene Cabaniss.
Survivors include her son, Gilbert Ramsey; granddaughter, Brandy Ramsey; great-grandchildren, Carolyn Hesler, Emilee Ramsey, Abigail Ramsey and Kenneth Yennie; friend/companion Ronald Brock and Mitchell Cabaniss, Jr.
“Her children arise and will call her blessed” Proverbs 31:28
