Mrs. Lois DeRocha Cottom Schott, 92, of Ocean Springs, MS died on May 6, 2012 in Ocean Springs. Lois was born in New Orleans, LA and was a graduate of Martin Behrman High School. She was a longtime employee of New Orleans City Hall. Lois had been a resident of Ocean Springs for the past 29 years. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 175 and Fleet Reserve Association Ladies Auxiliary Branch 162.
Lois loved her family and relied on her faith in God and prayer to protect them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Lois was surrounded with loving family while in the hospital. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Bowman and the staff of Ocean Springs Hospital.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Frank B. DeRocha and Mildred U. DeRocha; brothers, Frank L. DeRocha and Ronald R. DeRocha and husbands, Thomas C. Cottom and Harold D. Schott.
She is survived by her daughter, Lois C. (Herbert) Tufts of Ocean Springs, MS; sons, Thomas R. Cottom of Champion, MI and Michael C. (Beverly) Cottom of Ocean Springs, MS; granddaughters, Tracie L. (Brian) Fox of Lakeville, MN, Tammie C. (Corey) Magnuson of Champion, MI and Brandi M. Cottom (fiancée, Chadwick Smith) of Ocean Springs, MS; great-grandchildren, Annika and Rylie Fox, Courtney Johnson, Aubrie and Thomas Magnuson and Zachary Smith as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
