Louis Hewes O’Bannon, Jr. passed away on Sunday morning, March 17, 2013 at his home in his sleep.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosa Martin O’Bannon, to whom he would have been married to for 50 years next year; his two sons, Dr. Shawn Patrick O’Bannon of Oxford, Mississippi, Louis Hewes O’Bannon, III (Christine); two grandsons, Magruder Martin O‘Bannon and Corban Payton O’Bannon all of Gulfport; his brother, Richard O’Bannon; and a sister, Carol O’Bannon.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mrs. Maude Jones Englehardt; mother, Mrs. Margaret Randall O’Bannon Ammons and father, Louis Hewes O’Bannon.
Louis was retired from Bechtel after 25 years of service and he truly enjoyed every day of his retirement. He also proudly served in the United State Navy. He was a seventeen year cancer survivor and was a witness to all. He was a kind, and loving person and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
Louis was a Christian and a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Gulfport, where he served as president of the Congregation and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. In his younger years he was always at church with his family.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Coalville Cemetery, Biloxi.
