After a lengthy illness, Loyd B. Furlow, Jr. passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 9, 2014, at his home in Ocean Springs, MS.
Loyd was born in Brookhaven, MS on October 31, 1938 and was raised in Jackson, MS. He attended Provine High School, served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Jackson Fire Dept. in 1986. Loyd was an active member of Harmony Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, MS until he moved to Ocean Springs in 2012.
Loyd was preceded in death by his father, Loyd B. Furlow, Sr.; his step-mother, Doris Foster Furlow; and his mother, Willie Smith McConnell.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nellie Daniels Furlow; his daughters, Toni Applewhite of Ocean Springs, MS, Vicki Thompson of Loxley, AL and Vicki Woods of Jefferson, TX; his son, Kevin Furlow of Longview, TX; his brothers and sisters, Jimmy McConnell of Pontchatoula, LA, John McConnell, Kathleen Klein and Pat Coleman, all of Metairie, LA; his sister-in-law, Carol Aust of Ocean Springs, MS; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved him.

Funeral Services will be held at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Friends may visit from 12:00 pm until service time. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
