Margaret Casper Dubuisson

Our precious mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, Margaret Casper Dubuisson, departed this life on February 24, 2014. A couple hours before she died, she was able to celebrate the birthday of her beloved grandson, Zachary Larkin, where she ate birthday cake with the family and sang Happy Birthday to him (because as she liked to say to me "I loved him first"). She was born on October 31, 1930, and later welcomed a grandson, Joseph Hamilton on the same day in 1980. They enjoyed celebrating their Halloween birthdays together. Mama was the moral compass for this family. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Cecil Raymond Dubuisson, and they shared a loving and happy marriage until his death in 1992. She was the matriarch of this family and throughout her life, she was the beacon of the Catholic faith to her children and grandchildren. She was brilliant and graduated at the top of her nursing class at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, LA. The thing she most prized was her family. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren and stood by each of us through good and bad times -- never wavering in her faith in God or us. She always gave good advice (sometimes not what we wanted to hear but always what we needed to hear). After Hurricane Katrina, she worked side by side with her daughter Becky to dig through the debris, clean and restore their residence in Gulfport. During these times, these two were referred to as the "Pioneer Women of 2nd Street" because of the spirit and hard work they put in to do whatever it took to move on through this trying time. Monday nights were a big night at the 2nd Street house as her oldest daughter Jan Hamilton would come and spend the day with her and cook her a big meal. In fact, that is just what was going on when she died. A beautiful way to leave this Earth surrounded by her children, Jan and Ronnie Hamilton, Sarah and Zack Larkin, Lisa Younghouse and Becky Dubuisson, doing the special things each of them tried to do to make her life a better one. Her oldest son Cecil and his wife Betty made a practice of visiting mama on their days off, they would take her grocery shopping at the base and do whatever made mama happy. Of course these two, along with anyone else who was willing, spent many days taking her to Lil Rays for a Roast Beef Poboy. Her first love was her baby sister Jeanette Casper Lizana (or Aunt Nettie and Nannie to us). She thought of herself as a mother to Nettie. She was her baby and she always wanted to love and protect her. They shared so many good times together, shopping trips, prayer group, daily Mass - too many things to name but suffice it to say that she adored her baby sister. Every Tuesday, she and the "prayer ladies" as we liked to refer to them met to pray and share a meal. These gatherings meant so much to her as did her friends Pam, Sue, Sylvia, Kathy, Vivian, and Aunt Nettie. Every Thursday meant a visit from her grandson John Hamilton. If you knew anything about mama at all, you knew she loved her yard. She had a green thumb and could make anything blossom and bloom. She loved feeding and watching her birds at the birdfeeder, and seeing the Spring growth (which she was seeing signs of just this week). So much to say about this substantial woman and not enough time or space. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy R. and Elizabeth Casper, her husband Cecil and her youngest son Shawn Dubuisson. She is survived by her sister Jeannette Lizana and her husband Carl, her children Jan and Ronnie Hamilton, Becky Dubuisson, Cecil and Betty Dubuisson, Lisa Younghouse and former daughter-in-law Leslie Dubuisson Barfield. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Annie and Max Green, John Hamilton, Ray and Carrie Hamilton, Joe and Christina Hamilton, Zack and Sarah Larkin, Trey Dubuisson, Chase Dubuisson, Kayleigh Crowder, Stevie Crowder, Elizabeth and Lee Seal, Jay and Becky Myers, Patrick Younghouse, William Younghouse, Tyler Younghouse, Maggie Younghouse, Jordan Younghouse, Nick and Cara Dubuisson, Kelsey and Nick Whicker, and Cecilia Dubuisson. Five treasured great- grandchildren also survive her: Tate, Tucker and Grace Green, Knox Hamilton and Leo Hamilton. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sal and Janelle DiLorenzo, sister-in-law Nellie Dubuisson, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved.
