Margueritte T. Wheat

Margueritte T. Wheat, 95, of Gulfport passed away July 1, 2012 in Gulfport. She was born May 17, 1917 in Gulfport. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Francis B. Wheat, Sr. Survivors include her daughter, Margy W. Moffett (Joe) of Gulfport; 2 sons, Francis B. “Frank” Wheat, Jr. (Louise) of Gulfport and Ronald J. “Ronnie” Wheat (Terri) of Prairieville, LA.; 7 grandchildren, David Moffett (Mary Catherine), Justin Wheat, Ashley Moffett Mixon (Adam), John Vajner, Francis B. “Trey” Wheat, III (Savannah), Josh Wheat and Daniel Wheat; 4 great-grandchildren, Cole Mixon, Millie Moffett, Anna Lauren Mixon and Ann Frances Moffett. She also leaves behind her life-long friend, Lorena Hussey. Margueritte was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for more than 50 years. She was involved in the Altar Society and Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed attending Young at Heart each month with her good friends. She played the organ and the piano at church for many years and played for weddings, funerals, graduations, school programs and other functions. She touched many lives with her music. She had a strong faith and prayed daily for numerous people who requested prayers from her. She loved her family unconditionally; they were the joy of her life. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 until 8 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on 15th Street in Gulfport. Rosary will be recited at 8:00 pm. The funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. John Catholic Church in Gulfport where friends may visit one hour before the mass. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
