Marjorie Boleware Albrycht

Marjorie Boleware Albrycht, 81, of Ocean Springs, MS died on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. She was born September 24, 1935 in Greenwood, MS to Mayfred and Dewey Boleware. Marjorie married John Albrycht in Biloxi, MS on October 27, 1957. John survives his wife, residing in the home they built in Gulf Hills over 51 years ago. Also surviving are her daughters, Kathryn Albrycht of Ocean Springs, MS and granddaughter, Isibéal Owens and Phyllis Albrycht Wenham, her husband, Jim and grandchildren, Ben and Abby of Lawrenceville, GA. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mayfred and Dewey Boleware of Crystal Springs, MS. In early childhood, Marjorie moved to Crystal Springs, MS where she spent a wonderful childhood playing the organ and spending many hours in the town library cultivating her love of the written word. She graduated from Crystal Springs High School in 1953, and then ventured to Jackson, MS where she attended Millsaps College, graduating in 1956 with a double Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Spanish. Always the over-achiever, she earned a Master’s in Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1977. As most of their friends will attest, where “Marge” was, John wasn’t far behind (and vice versa). Always seeking an adventure, the pair spent their early years together living in Europe. Upon return to the States, they settled in Ocean Springs and John along with Dewey, Marjorie’s father, designed and built their family home in Gulf Hills where she cultivated her lifelong love of gardening. Marjorie was employed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS and retired as a Computer Training Manager with John in January 1992. The pair, always with the perfect plan, now were free to embark on many new adventures. With a strong belief in giving back to the community, Marjorie was active in numerous organizations including the Gulf Hills Garden Club, serving as President twice, 2000 - 2002 and 2006 - 2008, the Gulf Hills Civic Association Board, serving as Secretary, and as a member of the local PEO Chapter, providing scholarships to further higher education. Always a proponent of the importance of reading, Marjorie was proud to serve as a board member of the Jackson-George County Regional Library System, especially during the rebuilding period after Katrina. Marjorie also enjoyed volunteering with HOSA, Historic Ocean Springs Association and valued her time spent with many wonderful friends during the planning and preparation of reunions for Crystal Springs High School and Millsaps College. Funeral Services will be held at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 10:00 am. Friends may visit from 9:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Jackson County Humane Society, 4400 Audubon Lane, Gautier, Mississippi 39553. Always consider a rescue, they make great pets.
