Marjorie DeLancey

A beautiful, earthly angel has gone to heaven to spend eternity with Our Lord and Savior on Friday, September 9, 2016. Greeting her at heaven’s gates are the love of her life, husband Walter “Pete” DeLancey, and daughter Cassie Lou DeLancey. Marjorie passed away from advanced Alzheimer’s at the age of 87 years. It has been a very long journey for the family, but we would not change one moment. She was always there for her children, and her children were always there for her, until the very end. GREATEST MOM, EVER!!! She was a precious mother, daughter, sister, mother-in-law and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She always put everyone before herself and was always doing kind deeds for anyone who knew her. She loved cooking for her family and friends, and her famous banana pudding was enjoyed by many at events she attended throughout the years. She loved traveling with her husband and special friends (David and Pearl Mills). They went on numerous cruises and loved every moment they spent together. Marjorie loved her family dearly, especially her sister Dot Davis, with whom she shared many happy hours. Up until her illness progressed, they went together to hair appointments and luncheons with friends; and they always attended church together. Many called them the Baldwin sisters! It was a sisterly love that she cherished. Marjorie worked for H.P. and Dot Davis at H.P. Davis Grocery for over 40 years. She loved celebrating Christmas and always had decorations everywhere. She normally had six trees perfectly arranged with the cherished ornaments she had collected over the years. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Latta Pulaski and Mamie Hawley; her brother, Joseph Pulaski Hawley; her father-in-law and mother in-law, Walter and Annie DeLancey; and her brothers-in-law, Olin, Lloyd, Keble, Tom, and Alton DeLancey. She is survived by her children, Colinda Green (and her husband David), Nancy Cain, Winfield DeLancey (and his wife Susie), and Val (and his wife Missy) DeLancey; her sister, Doris “Dot” Davis; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; her VERY SPECIAL FRIENDS, David and Pearl Mills; and many other friends she adored. Please join us in celebrating our Mother’s life at the Community of Christ Church, 12205 Mount Pleasant Road in Vancleave, Mississippi, on Sunday, September 11, 2016, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a service at 3:30 p.m. Graveside service will follow at Vancleave Cemetery No. 2.
