Marvin John (Ealy) Eley

Marvin John (Ealy) Eley, age 73, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at his home in Saucier. He was born March 12, 1943 in Bluff Creek which is now known as Vancleave. He completed school at Live Oak Indian School of Vancleave in 1957. He was a heavy equipment operator for various shipyards and for McDermott and Harrison County. He was a former council member and Elder to the Pascagoula River Tribe (PRT). John was an avid hunter and fisherman. As a hunter, he could walk up on you and you would not know he was there until he spoke to you, a Quiet Walker. As a fisherman he could outfish anyone in his boat with a simple cane pole, no fancy fishing gear for him. He shared all his seafood catch, fish, and meat with everyone who needed or wanted it. He was famous for his birthday or family cookout parties. He would invite everyone and made sure they had some to take home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaynell Phelps Ealy; a son, Marvin Glen Ealy; and sister, Sandra Rives and Edith Merle Ealy. He is survived by his children, Bishop John Ealy, Timothy Ealy (Tracy), Amanda Ealy, Ronda Michelle Hebert (Darrel); grandchildren, Angel Hebert, Emily Ealy, Cortney Hebert (Cory); companion and best friend Gene Killgo; and siblings, James Ealy, Donna Oakes, and Verna Benezue. The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Shiloh Baptist Church from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with the service at 5:00 p.m. followed by Passover celebration. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
