Mary Martha Wakeland Boudreaux, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 4, 2013. Our mother, Mary, was truly a woman of and with amazing grace. She lived as she taught, to put her faith in the Lord above all situations. Mary was born in Rockport, Kentucky on April 16, 1921, the daughter of Carl and Mabel Wakeland.
Mary made her home in Hattiesburg for many years before moving to Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She was a member of Belle Fountaine Baptist Church for many years before moving and becoming a member and of First Baptist Church for over 30 years.
Mary was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She always had a positive, optimistic outlook on life and taught her children and many others in Sunday School to do the same while putting their faith in God’s hands. Mary was very generous and never met a stranger.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Carl Wakeland; her mother, Mabel Wakeland Anderson; her stepfather, Carl W. Anderson; her brothers, Johnny Wakeland and Willie Neal Wakeland; and her oldest son, Dannie Lloyd LeFan.
She is survived by her sons, Mike Boudreaux, Charlie Boudreaux and wife Nita, John Neal Boudreaux; her two daughters Patricia LeFan Gaynor and husband Melvin, and Marlene Boudreaux Lambes and husband Bob; and her daughter-in-law, Sharla LeFan. She leaves twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces to remember her.
