Mary Evelyn Cain Diaz

Mary Evelyn Cain Diaz, 90, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 in Ocean Springs. Mary Evelyn was born in Elizabethtown, NC to Mary Ann Gibson and Joseph Benjamin Cain, Sr. She was a registered nurse and worked for Highsmith Hospital in Fayetteville, NC and also for the Singing River and Ocean Springs Hospitals. She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, William “Bill” Cain, Frances Cain Huggins, Robert “Bob” Cain, Lucy Cain Riddle, Dorothy Cain Holmes and Jean Cain Singletary; and her son, Victor Jerome “Jerry” Jones. Mary Evelyn is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roland Joseph Diaz, Sr.; her children, Frederick Warren Jones and Roland Joseph (Donna) Diaz, Jr.; her grandchildren, Roland Joseph “RJ” Diaz, III and Jonathan Elias “Jon” Diaz; her siblings, Annie Laurie Cain Larson, Joseph Benjamin “Tucker” Cain, Jr. and Louise Cain Storms; and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 921 Ocean Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS 39564 or to the Mission of Hope Ministries, P.O. Box 8504, Mobile, AL 36689. Funeral Services will be held at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11:00 am. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at D’Iberville Memorial Park.
