Mary Lou Schanbacher Pinkston, age 85, of Gulfport died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in Gulfport. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and had been a resident of the Coast all of her life. She was a member of O’Neal Road Baptist Church. She was a retired medical technologist with Benefield Clinic for 15 years and the VA Medical Center for 24 years. She was a loving Christian mother to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Pinkston was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Gene E. Pinkston; and her parents, Ora Michael and Ethel Taddlock Schanbacher.
She is survived by four daughters, Shelia A. Powell of Gulfport, Sandra Kay Dunham (Scott) of Gulfport, Sharon L. Cochran of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Sharla Bonner (Kevin) of Gulfport; three sisters, Naomi Coleman of Gulfport, Ila Ruth Holland (William) of Saucier, and Lois Ann Shaw of Saucier; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
A special thank you to the caregivers of Mrs. Pinkston over the last six months.
Memorials may be made to the church of one’s choice.
The funeral service will be Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Finley Cemetery.
