Maryann Brecelnik Ederer, 87, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013 in Ocean Springs.
Maryann was born in Berwyn, IL on April 12, 1926 and was a longtime resident of Ocean Springs, MS. She attended Rosary College in Chicago, IL. Maryann married Robert Francis Ederer, of Chicago, IL and together as a young family they moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1956.
Maryann was co-founder of the R.F. Ederer Company, along with her husband and worked as office manager and Secretary/Treasurer. She was a licensed real estate agent and sold real estate for many years.
Maryann was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, a former member of the Legion of Mary, the Altar Society, and served as Secretary on the parish council. She was a member of the Biloxi Yacht Club and the Gulf Coast Symphony Guild.
Maryann was a devout Catholic and believed deeply in grace, forgiveness, the power of prayer and hard work. She raised six children and always encouraged them to work hard and think positive and “you will live a happy and positive life.” She raised her children by example for she always worked hard, overcame any life difficulties with a positive attitude and her favorite saying was, “If you can’t say something nice about someone, don’t say it at all!”
Mrs. Ederer was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Angela Brecelnik; and her husband, Robert “Bob” Ederer.
Her survivors include her daughters, Katherine (Ron) Grumme, of Tallahassee, FL, Laura (“Buzzy”) Bolton of Ocean Springs, Elizabeth (Larry) Heinkel of St. Petersburg, FL, Mary Ann (Randy) Payne of Mobile, AL; her sons, Dr. Michael (Michelle) Ederer of Niceville, FL and Mark (Helene)Ederer of Ocean Springs; her grandchildren, Darren Grumme, Garth Grumme, Rachael Grumme Lieblick, Michael Ederer, Mindy Ederer Kirk, Ashlee Ederer Stamatovich, Nicholas Ederer, Garret Judice, Justin Judice, Michelle Bolton Gilich, Robyn Bolton, Ryan Bolton, Kristophor Ederer, Nichole Ederer, John Peterson, Brad Heinkel, Nicholas Heinkel, Thomas Payne, Cameron Payne and Daniel Payne; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the St. Alphonsus Catholic School Trust Fund, 504 Jackson Ave., Ocean Springs, MS 39564 or to one’s favorite charity.
Visitation will be held at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs.
