Matthew A. “Mike” Vlahov, 84, of Biloxi, MS died suddenly on Sunday, August 19, 2012 in Biloxi, just five days before his 85th birthday.
Mike was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Mississippi at an early age. He was a graduate of Biloxi High School Class of 1945. Mike served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and he worked for the People’s Bank for 46 years as a clerk. He was a devout Catholic and attended St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Fatima Catholic Church. Mike enjoyed writing articles for the Sun Herald editorial page, driving his prize 1971 Cutlass Supreme and his daily walks in the Edgewater Mall.
Survivors include his sisters, Mary Ann Reigles and Maureen (Larry) Rosetti, both of Biloxi; three nephews; two nieces; and his beloved cat, Sheena.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. where friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until mass time. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
The Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
