Mr. Michael Charles Cottom, age 60, of Ocean Springs, MS died Thursday, February 14, 2013 in Ocean Springs.
Michael was born on February 21, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended Delgado College. He served in the U.S. Army and was a civilian employee of the Coast Guard in New Orleans and then for the Supervisor of Shipbuilding in Pascagoula until his retirement. Michael was a resident of Ocean Springs for the past 30 years and was a member of the American Legion, Gautier-Vancleave Post 1992, where he served in several official positions.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas C. Cottom, mother, Lois DeRocha Cottom Schott, stepfather, Harold D. Schott and his former wife Heidi B. Cottom.
Michael is survived by his wife Beverly T. Cottom, daughter Brandi M. Cottom (fiancée, Chadwick Smith) and grandson Zachary Michael Smith, brother Thomas R. Cottom, sister Lois (Herbert) Cottom Tufts, stepdaughter Michelle (Jessie) Polk, stepson James C. Kelley, and his extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 18, 2013, from 8:45 am until 9:45 am, with a 9:45 am chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
