Michael Joseph Mercier, age 73, of Gulfport died Sunday, September 7, 2014 in Biloxi.
He was born in St. Paul, MN and been a resident of the Gulf Coast for about forty years.
He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and a former member of Gulfport Elks Lodge # 978. He previously served in the National Guard and the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of USM and University of Iowa with two master degrees in insurance and accounting. A CPA, he was the owner of Michael J. Mercier, CPA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella Mae McGinley Mercier and Albert Charles Mercier, Sr.; two brothers, Albert L. Mercier and Patrick Mercier.
Mr. Mercier is survived by his wife, Yvonne Garriga Mercier; a step-son, Keith Walker of Humble, TX; two sisters, Theresa Morgan of Hattiesburg, Mary Claire Debrow of Diamondhead; four brothers, Msgr. Joseph Mercier of Diamondhead, Damion Mercier of Hattiesburg, Del Mercier of Havertown, PA, and Adrian Mercier of Shenandoah, TX; a step-grandson, Bryan Walker of San Diego, CA; and step-granddaughter, Holly Walker of Humble, TX.
The Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 12 noon at St. John Catholic Church where friends may visit beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment is at Biloxi National Cemetery.
