Mildred “Millie” Wieniewitz Hughes, affectionately known as Midge-Mitzi, Winnie and Memaw, 87, of Biloxi, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013.
Millie was a longtime resident of the MS Gulf Coast. She was a member of Blessed Selos Catholic Church, Telephone Pioneer Clown Club and Crochet Club. She retired after 46 years at Bell South Telephone Company.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eva Wieniewitz; son, Johnny Hughes; and brothers, Henry “Red” and Al Wieniewitz.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Jimmy Hughes of Biloxi; daughter, Marcia (Tommy) Toncrey of D’Iberville; sister, Lillian Krohn of Virginia; grandchildren, Kacee Bellias and Garrick Toncrey; and six great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Selos Catholic Church. Friends may visit from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
