Monica Lancon

We rejoice in the knowledge that Monica has finally earned her wings in Heaven and is dining with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her longtime battle with illness came to an end on June 22, 2012. She was surrounded by many family and friends whose lives she touched so deeply. Monica was born on October 10, 1955 to June Norton Barras and Willis Barras in D’Iberville, MS. She was 56 at the time of her passing. Monica’s life was deep rooted in her Christian faith and she looked forward to the day that she would join Jesus in Heaven. Monica’s life and career were centered around her love for the Lord and her love for children. She was a preschool teacher at Cedar Lake Christian Assembly and Sunshine School while her body allowed her to do so. Her doors were always open to her home providing a safe haven for one and all. She will always be remembered for her cheerful, loving, joking and smiling personality. She is preceded in death by her parents, June and Willis Barras; her grandparents, Stella and Bill Norton; her father-in-law, Lee Lancon; and her precious son, Jacob Aaron Lancon. Keeping her dreams and memories alive, she is survived by her husband of 38 years, Duane Lancon. From the moment they met, they have not been apart; it was love at first sight. She is also survived by three children she raised in a Godly home, Vincent (Carrie) Lancon, Celeste Lancon and Elizabeth (Don) Boyte; two sisters, Rhonda Beddingfield and Barbara (Rodney) Williams. She had eight grandchildren whom she loved and cherished more than her own life, Kaitlynn Tarver, Crystal Lancon, Gabriel Lancon, Rainee Parfait, Ashley Lancon, Saige Boyte, Hunter Boyte and Amy Lancon. She is also survived by many family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm and a funeral service will be Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 10:00am all at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home.
