John H. Marine entered the Kingdom of Heaven, is living in a promised Heavenly Mansion, walking on Golden streets and singing with Angels. John, 88 of Biloxi died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, April 23, 2018. John was born May 28, 1929 in Montpelier, IN. He was a "double dipper", initially retiring from active duty Air Force and later retiring as a civil servant at KAFB. During his working years and well into retirement, he became quite the avid golfer and was one of an elite club accredited with having aced every par three at KAFB golf club, some multiple times. He was also an accomplished bowler with too many trophies to place on display. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Biloxi, up until taking up residence in the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH) in July of 2015. John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Helen Marine; his father, Virgil Marine; his mother, Audrey Hart Marine; his sister, Mary Carmichael and her son, Joel. Survivors include his son, Jay Marine of Tucson AZ; three daughters, Debbie (Glenn) Hagler of Saucier, MS; Kathy (Bobby) Dabbs of Taylor, TX and Jan Smitherman of Biloxi, MS. Survivors also include numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport and the staff at the AFRH as well his best buds, Buddy, Frank and Gerald who made his meals the highlight of his days. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in his memory to: First Baptist Church, 1560 Popp's Ferry Road, Biloxi, MS 39532. Visitation will be Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with funeral services on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 am, where friends may visit from 10:00 am until service time, all at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home.
