Nancy Louise Wittmer, age 79, died peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2014, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Mrs. Wittmer is preceded in death by her adoptive parents and grandparents Granville and Betty Billet.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, William Eugene Wittmer; her son Gene and his wife Dorothy; her son Scott and his wife Susan; her daughter Betty Jo; her grandchildren Will Wittmer, Stephanie Sabree, Eric Wittmer, and Sean Wittmer; and her great grandchildren Lila Wittmer and Dante Sabree.
She was born on March 27, 1935, in Wrightsville, Pennsylvania and lived there until she married newly enlisted United States Air Force Airman William Wittmer. As a military wife, she managed the household and raised her three children in locations such as Georgia, New York, Ohio, Mississippi and England, and as her husband served in South America and Germany. Mrs. Wittmer enjoyed baking, collecting Hummels and Santas, and travelling; was an avid hockey fan and a sly wit who enjoyed family antics.
An intimate service and internment will take place on Friday, January 2, at 11:00 am at the Biloxi National Cemetery as arranged by the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the Wittmer family encourages donations to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org/donate.
