Neville Gates

Mr. Nelville Gates, Sr., WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Breton, Korean War veteran, and retired owner of Gates Cleaners, Inc. for 48 years, age 88, died Wednesday, May16, 2012 in Gulfport, MS. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. Burial will be private. He was born in Columbia, MS and lived most of his life in Gulfport. He was preceded in death by his first spouse, Gladys Sumrall Gates and second spouse, Janice Chambliss Gates; parents, Cassie and Lillie Gates and brother, Howard Gates. Mr. Gates is survived by a son, Ned Gates, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Shelley Couevas Gates; also survived by his second spouse's children, Rhonda and Tim Keyes; sisters, Laverne Fornea, Doris Pearson and Carolyn Boone; grandchildren, Lindsey Ory and Thomas Ory, Travis Walker, Tammy Cooke, Brandy Cooke; and 8 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a proud, spirited man who immensely enjoyed fishing and traveling the U.S. The family prefers memorials to the Humane Society of South MS, 2615 25th Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501 or to the American Heart Association, 2159 E Pass Road, Gulfport, MS 39507.
