Nolan Fremin, 89, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Nolan was born in Biloxi, MS on November 19, 1923. He attended Loyola University’s School of Business Administration in New Orleans for three years and spent two years with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate at St. Henry’s Preparatory Seminary in Belleville, IL and the Immaculate Heart of Mary Novitiate in Alton, IL. Nolan was later employed as a Department Manager in the Home Office of the American National Insurance Company of Galveston, TX. He later returned to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he was employed as City Accountant and Purchasing Agent for the City of Ocean Springs. Upon his retirement, Nolan taught English as a second language at McCauley Center in Biloxi, MS. He served as a radioman in the US Navy during WW II and was assigned duty in San Francisco, CA, Honolulu, HI and in the South Pacific on the Island of Guam in the Marianas Islands. Nolan was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.S. Fremin; his wife, Janet Findlay Fremin of Kilmarnock, Scotland; sister, Rita Fremin McFadden and four brothers, Donald, Lloyd, Ralph and Neil Fremin.
Nolan is survived by his nieces, Marianne Simeneta of Augusta, GA and Sandra Fremin Head of Greenbrier, TN; nephews, Jerry, Michael and Donnie Fremin all of Ocean Springs, MS and Herbert J. Fremin of Boston, MA. Nolan is also survived by Maria, Rommel, Charlotte and Harrison Peters all of Ocean Springs, MS.
A Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until mass time. Interment will follow at a later date in Biloxi National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Nolan’s memory to: St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Alphonsus Catholic Parish in Ocean Springs or by having a mass said for the repose of his soul.
