Mr. Lopez was born on May 1, 1934 in Trinidad, CO. He enlisted in the Air Force as a young man and was then stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. During this time, he met and married the beautiful Dorothy Cox of Biloxi. Mr. Lopez served 21 years in the USAF and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1973. He then worked as Building Administrator at the Gulf Coast Medical Center and as Assistant Administrator at the Veterans Administration Cemetery for many years.
During his lifetime, Mr. Lopez was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather as well as a dedicated community member, serving as President of the Pee Wee football league and assisting in track and field events at D’Iberville High School. He was a familiar figure at D’Iberville High School sporting events, often spending quality time with his friends and family. In the last few years of his life, he was cared for greatly by his family but also by the compassionate nurses, aides, and health care workers at Stone County Nursing and Rehab.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Mr. Lopez was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Banovich; father, Louis Lopez; brothers, Manuel, Alex, Charlie, Richard, and Leo; and sisters, Clara and Margaret.
He is survived by his sons, Curtis (Ann) Lopez of Biloxi, Perry Lopez of D’Iberville, Richard Lopez of Bay Springs, and John (Jessica) Lopez of Wiggins; grandchildren, Curtis Lopez, Jr., Justin (Bridgett) Lopez, Stephanie (Joel Stevenson) Lopez, Alison (Zach) Grady, and Richard Lee Lopez; great grandchildren, Olivia Lopez, Gabriella Lopez, Justin Lopez, Jr., Elijah Legg, James William Stevenson, and Anna Grace Grady; and sister, May Delacruz.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Friends may visit one hour prior. A graveside service will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
