Mrs. Ozea Broussard Trahan, age 98, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Maurice, Louisiana, on August 20, 1914, she moved to Biloxi with her Poppa at the age of 4. She lived in the camps on Back Bay and worked at Southern Shell at such a young age that when the Inspectors came she and her sister, Fida, would have to hide under the floors. She was a homemaker, devoted Mother, MawMaw and sister. She was a member of St. John/Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society.
Mrs. Trahan was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Elda Broussard, step-mother, Alice Broussard, husband, George Trahan, son, Patrick Trahan, daughter, Elda Trahan McGill and siblings, Fida Huval, Pearl Bosarge, and Joseph Broussard.
Survivors include her daughters, Beverly Trahan, Susan Fountain (Sonny), Alice Curtis (Frank), three sisters, Bertha Hebert, Ethel Comeaux and Doris Bradley, a brother, Arthur (T-Boy) Broussard, daughter-in-law, Eula Mae Trahan, 11 grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 7th, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John/Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Catholic Church. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until Mass time.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Altar Society. The family would like to thank, Dr. Charles Gruich, Dr. Marian Wainwright, the 6th floor nursing staff at Biloxi Regional and Gentiva Hospice.
