Patsy Ruth McClellon Fountain

Patsy Ruth McClellon Fountain went home to the Father and her beloved husband, Joseph E. Fountain, Sr. on May 15, 2014. Patsy was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was a compassionate, loving, wise, strong and faithful woman that was full of life and love for her family and her God. Patsy was a renaissance woman. She was an artist, a creator, a painter, a sculptor, a cabinet maker, a cook and a seamstress. Anything she touched or created exuded her elegance and grace. She was a caregiver to all and never met a stranger. Family and friends were Patsy’s love and joy. She was always surrounded by her family whether it was a lunch she made every day or a Christmas Eve Dinner. She was the best cook and people would come from miles around to eat at her table. She was a spiritual and physical caregiver to many. But, most importantly she was the loving and faithful wife of Captain Joe and the devoted and caring mother of Joey and the best Grandmother ever. She too lived with ingenuity and determination. She would handle all setbacks life had to offer with grace and elegance. Whether it was the premature birth of her child, loss of her home to hurricanes, death of her parents and husband, or a broken neck she would pick herself back up, dust off her knees and begin the rebuilding and renewal process. She never quit. She never lost Faith. Quitting was not a word found in her vocabulary. Faith was the strongest word in her vocabulary. She was a fighter and would come back stronger and more determined with every set back she encountered. Patsy was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on December 13, 1930 and she was the oldest of six. She attended St. Theresa’s through the eighth grade. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D’Iberville where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Altar Society. She was a powerful and loving personality, a fiercely devoted Mother, grandmother and a devoted and faithful wife. Patsy had been diagnosed with Scleroderma in 2005. She was in constant pain but no matter what always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her beautiful green eyes. She would warm your heart with that smile and her faith in God was simply amazing to witness. Patsy is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Joseph E. Fountain, Sr.; her parents, Curtis and Alberta McClellon; and her sisters, Betty Kullivan and Agnes Marie Giametta and her brother James “Sonny” McClellon Her memory is cherished by her family, especially by her only son, Joseph E.
