Paul Andrew Curtis, age 88, of D’Iberville, MS passed away Wednesday morning, March 28, 2012 at his home following a brief illness.
Paul was born on April 14, 1924 in Darby, Pennsylvania. His parents were Paul Curtis and Kathryn Henderson. Paul served as a Coxswain 3rd Class on the USS Bennett during WWII. Following the war, he joined the US Air Force, serving 21 years before retiring in D’Iberville where he has resided since 1961. Paul is a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Paul married Ernestine Castro of San Antonio, Texas in 1955. The Curtis’ 5 children are Tom Mann (Pam) of Abilene, Texas; Karl Mann (Frances) of Columbia, Mississippi; Michael Curtis, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Pauline Curtis Bryson (Ed) , of Carrollton, Texas; and Patrick Curtis (Ronda), of Milton, Florida. Paul is a devoted and loving grandfather to his 11 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren, who called him Paw-Paw. An avid golfer, Paul had 17 confirmed holes in one on the Biloxi Par 3 course. He was especially proud of his Irish heritage, and visited Ireland last year.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, D’Iberville, MS or the St. Vincent De Paul Pharmacy.
Visitation will be at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Rosary on Thursday, March 29, 2012. A Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10:00 am, following the 9:00 am burial at Biloxi National Cemetery.
