Paul Joseph Delcambre

Paul Joseph Delcambre, Sr. of Biloxi passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013. Mr. Delcambre was born January 3, 1926, in the Chouteau community, Vermillion Parish, Louisiana. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific, he met and married Shirley Pickich, his wife of sixty-six years, in Biloxi. He remained in Biloxi where he built a career in the seafood business. As co-owner of Del’s-Seaway Shrimp & Oyster Company, Inc., and Seaway Freezing Company, he served as president of the local American Shrimp Processors and Canners Association, was a member of the Mississippi Restaurant Association, and pioneered the freezing and marketing of fresh-frozen shrimp. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ovelia Dore’ Delcambre, sisters Girlie Viator, Florence Wiltz, Berniece Brown; one brother, Francis Delcambre; and grandson, Paul Joseph Delcambre, III. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Shirley, daughters, Linda (Randall) Griggs of Biloxi and Brandon, MS, Darlene (Chuck) Weems of Ocean Springs, MS, sons, Paul (Charlotte) Delcambre, Jr. of Gulfport, MS, Greg (Malissa) Delcambre of Long Beach, MS, Barry (Stefanie) Delcambre of Biloxi, MS, grandchildren, Paula Delcambre, Rachel (Blake) Hamm, Amanda Griggs, Jennifer Griggs, Barry (Macey) Delcambre, Jr., Stephanie (Cole) Krutz, Will Delcambre, Lindsey Weems, Jamison Delcambre, Brooks Delcambre, Laura, Samantha, and Ainsley Weems, and two great-grandchildren, Coulson Krutz and Rhys Hamm, sister, Willa Mae Ledbetter, and brother, Herbert Delcambre. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy, or Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Catholic Church, P.O. Box 347, Biloxi, MS 39533. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Catholic Church, 356 Lameuse Street, Biloxi, with a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service will be held following the mass at Biloxi City Cemetery.
