Rhoda (Mulkey) Fountain passed away peacefully on October 3, 2014 in Ocean Springs, MS.
Mrs. Fountain was born in Haskell TX, March 28, 1927. After graduating from Plainview High School (Plainview, TX) in 1944, Rhoda located with her widowed mother, Lillian Mulkey, to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to where Mrs. Mulkey, an Air Force instructor, had been transferred from Sheppard AFB to Keesler.
After briefly serving as a stenographer at Keesler, Rhoda returned to Texas to attend Texas State College for Women (1946 to 1948). During this time Rhoda, worked for the American Red Cross at Amarillo AFB, Texas.
After rejoining her mother in Biloxi in 1948, she met and married Philip Capuano with whom she had two daughters, Kathy (Capuano) Bryan of Gulfport and Julie Capuano of Ocean Springs.
In 1954, Rhoda began her career with an entry level position at the world renowned allergy and asthma clinic (The Gay Clinic) in Biloxi. During her sixteen years with the clinic, due to her versatility, determination, and strong work ethic, she progressed to the position of Office Manager. After the retirement of the founding physicians of The Gay Clinic, Rhoda secured a position with the United States Courts for the Southern District of Mississippi in 1970. Working with the Courts, her abilities, skills, and integrity allowed her to advance to positions of greater responsibilities. In 2000, after a rewarding thirty year career with the court system where she was highly regarded and respected, Rhoda retired as Courtroom Deputy Clerk.
During her leisure time, Rhoda enjoyed spending time with her coworkers and friends, dancing, and music. It was through their shared love of Jazz music that she met her beloved husband Henry F. “Buddy” Fountain of Ocean Springs who, sadly, in 2011 preceded her in death.
Mrs. Fountain is dearly missed by her daughters, Kathy and Julie; her grandchildren Rachel Beaugez Freeland of Pensacola, FL, Joel and Rhoda Beaugez Anderson of Hobson, AL, Jennifer Bryan Krueger of Ocean Springs, MS, Nathan and Tiffany Bryan of Escatawpa, MS and Anna Landry of Biloxi, MS; and great-grandchildren, Ryean Freeland of Pensacola, FL, Lindsay Krueger of Jackson, MS, Kyle Beaugez of Hobson, AL, Michael Krueger of Ocean Springs, MS, Nicholas Freeland of Pensacola, FL, Ethan Anderson of Hobson, AL, Lance Bowman of Ocean Springs, MS, and Colton Bryan of Escatawpa, MS.
