Richard Frank Bourgeois, Sr., age 74 of Diamondhead, Ms. passed away September 16, 2013 of pancreatic cancer.
Richard was born in Bay St. Louis, Ms. on February 15, 1939. He is a graduate of Bay High School in Bay St. Louis, Ms and attended Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Ms for 1 and half years before joining the U.S. Navy in 1958.
Richard was a bar owner as well as a construction contractor and casino dealer at Casino Magic (now known as Hollywood Casino). He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, college and pro football. Richard was also an avid football fan of the New Orleans Saints and the Ole Miss Rebels.
Richard is survived by his wife Jan Bourgeois of Diamondhead, Ms. two sons-Richard Bourgeois, Jr. and Wallace (Wally) Bourgeois of Waveland,Ms.,two daughters-Crystal Singley (Timothy) of Hattiesburg,Ms. and Patricia Taylor of Diamondhead,Ms, three sisters-Gerri Casabat (Jimmy) of Mandeville,La, Grace Bumgardner (Dave) of Diamondhead,Ms, and Marion Dorn of Waveland,Ms; nine grandchildren-Garrett, Brandon and Sydney Bourgeois, Michael, Aaron and Matthew Bourgeois, Cameron Wooten, Kaitlyn Cranmer, and Britney Indorf.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Wallace J. and Mary Grace Bourgeois as well as two brothers Joseph and Wallace Bourgeois and his first wife Betty Jean Bourgeois.
A memorial service will be held from 10am-2pm Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Bayou Phillips Community Center, 9155 Harbor Drive, Bay St. Louis, MS. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
