Richard Earl Tackett

Mr. Richard Earl Tackett, age 88, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Thursday, October 18, 2012, in Ocean Springs. Richard "Dick" Tackett was born in Fairmont, W. Virginia, on September 4, 1924. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1945 after serving in WWII in France and Belgium. He worked for the Department of the Navy for 35 years as a field service engineer for the Gun Systems Engineering Department, retiring in 1988. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Irene Axelrod Tackett of Ocean Springs, MS, children, Lawrence Michael Tackett of Lubbock, TX, Patricia Carol Wells of Louisville, KY, Steven Richard Tackett of Highland, IL and Pamela Ann Brangenburg of Hardin, IL, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, from 6 pm until 7:30 pm, with a 7:30 pm memorial service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will be on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 10 am in Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
